Belstra Milling Co., Legacy Farms, LLC and Fair Oaks Farms provide an innovative summer internship program for college students at the Agri-Tourism business, Fair Oaks Farms, in Northwest Indiana.  Energetic, eloquent and ag-educated young people impact the enjoyment of thousands of tourists that visit the Dairy and Pig Adventures at Fair Oaks Farms.

The successful candidates will have an on-farm pig and/or dairy production learning experience followed by additional training related to the multiple facets of the Agri-Tourism business which include  developing excellent presentation and people skills to successfully provide tours of Fair Oaks Farms.

Internships are open to all majors. Any student will gain valuable experience in many aspects of Fair Oaks Farms including pig production, dairy production, public speaking, and interaction with tourists. Network with actual farmers, agritourism managers, and executives in the farm and agritourism industry.

How to Apply

Applicants are encouraged to have: Pig and/or Dairy production experience or interest, an outgoing personality, activity organizational skills and general computer experience. Applicant must have verifiable employment, valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.

Time Frame: Summer internship takes place mid-May through the first week of August.

Student’s Responsibilities: Learn pig and/or dairy production. Engage the tourists joyfully and genuinely. Learn to communicate and facilitate public/people handling issues. Present a positive impression of the Fair Oaks Farms experience. Genuinely appreciate the animals and the people who find it their calling to take care of them. Expect to work 40 hours per week with weekend rotations.

Scholarship: Hourly wage provided. Available housing reserved by company and paid by student.
