What are “The Adventures” at Fair Oaks Farms?

“The Adventures” at Fair Oaks Farms include multiple museum spaces, children’s play areas, farm tours, and educational and fun programming.

General admission to “The Adventures” includes:

  • Access to three awesome on-campus agriculture themed museums.
  • Entrance to our on-campus birthing barn.
  • Summer fun in our outdoor Mooville area.
  • Optional Dairy and/or Pig Farm tours.

The Adventures operate as a non-profit organization here at Fair Oaks Farms with the goal of educating about and advocating for agriculture that feeds our world. Admissions and Tour Information

Visit Fair Oaks Farms with mind-blowing and entertaining interactive exhibits. Experience agriculture in a whole new way by taking a break in the country. Learn and play in our activity centers. We partner with modern working farms so you can absorb the farming lifestyle in the air-conditioned comfort of our farm buses. Sample our award-winning cheeses. Witness the miracle of life at our birthing facilities.

General Admission (September-May)

Admission to farm grounds is free. Tour packages at additional costs. We recommend experiencing at least one during your visit.
No admission cost is required to enter the Farmhouse Restaurant, Cowfé, BP & Dairycatessen or The Market.

Two-Day Admissions tickets ($38.00) are available now for any Adventure! Keep the fun going… turn any day of Adventures into two! Present any Two-Day Admissions ticket from the previous day and receive free admission for the next consecutive day! All two-day tickets must be redeemed on the second consecutive day from original purchase. Proof of original purchase must be shown. All online purchases are final. Fair Oaks Farms accommodates large groups! Bring your herd and experience an Adventure for all ages! Small groups under 20 are welcome without prior notification. For groups of 20 or more, advanced notice is required.

The Dairy Adventure Museum

Explore nearly 15,000 square feet of experiential museum space dedicated to dairy farming. Have fun learning about cow comfort, manure management, milk production, and the many other aspects of sustainable dairy farming that help feed the world!

The Dairy Adventure Museum features an indoor play space, interactive exhibits for all ages, and tons of insight into the wonderful world of dairy. Children can Learn+Play while attaching a milking apparatus to a cow, watching our 4D animated movie, exploring “the (indoor) forest” and more!

As an adult, play the John Deere Trivia game, meet the farmers who provide dairy to the world, and realize just how much goes into sustainably producing dairy.

Explore this space at your own pace throughout your AGventure.

The Pork Education Center

 

Pork plays a huge role in our history, culture, and everyday lives! Visit the Pork Education Center to learn about the many ways that pork is relevant to feeding the world! This museum and activity space is great for guests of all ages.

Discover how pork helps human health in the medical industry. Find great pork recipes and learn great techniques for cooking with pork.

Children can explore our indoor playhouse, and all ages can fly with the pigs on our 3 STORY HIGH indoor ropes challenge course! Great for fun all year round!

The Crop Adventure Museum

Did you know that the world population is currently over 8 billion and climbing? The Crop Adventure Museum explores how farmers continue to provide adequate food production for the worlds ever growing population.

Take a walk through the decades and discover some of the agricultural innovations which have gotten us to the present.

Take a deep dive underground and learn about what it takes to grow healthy crops.

Learn about the many ways crop production impacts economies around the world.

Finally, discover how technology and innovation continue to drive agriculture into the future!

The Birthing Barn

Just a short outdoor walk from our Dairy Adventure Museum is a unique, one-of-a-kind experience. The Birthing Barn allows visitors to view live calf births every day. Learn firsthand how the miracle of life unfolds on a dairy farm while sitting in our audience and watching our dedicated team provide quality care to laboring mothers. Watch closely as a new baby learns to stand and is bottle fed nourishment in the first hours of birth.

When an active birth is not in progress, check out the nursery (also located in the birthing barn) to say “hi!” to the newest members of our herd.

Visitors are welcome, but please help us create a peaceful and calming environment for our mother cows by speaking in quiet, calming tones while in this building.

The Dairy Adventure Farm Tour

Included in your general admission is an optional tour to visit a working dairy farm!

Board one of our buses as we take you on an approximately 1 hour and 15-minute trip to see how a modern large scale dairy farm operates.

You will make stops and depart the bus at a 72-cow rotary milking parlor, and a robotic milking parlor.

As you ride through the farm, you’ll see how cows are fed, housed, and cared for.

The Pig Adventure Farm Tour

Included in your general admission is an optional tour to visit a breed-to-wean pig farm.

On this 1 hour and 30-minute tour, you’ll board our bus to be transported to a local modern pig farm where our tour guides will lead you through areas that overlook the pig barns.

Live a life in the day of a pig! Explore the different hallways to learn about large-scale pig farming and watch a pig’s journey through growing, breeding and gestation, and farrowing.

Tour Tips and Info:

  • Tours can be scheduled in our Admissions building when purchasing your general admission.
  • Tours operate rain or shine every day that The Adventures are open.
  • While the Dairy Farm Tour includes two separate stops and little walking, the Pig Farm Tour stops at one location and includes significant walking.
  • Both tours and all buses are ADA accessible.
  • When planning your day, consider your group and whether the tours are right for you. Those wishing to experience both tours and visit all museum spaces should consider arriving near opening (9am CST).
  • Buses are climate controlled, and all tour locations are indoors.

Mooville

Open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, Mooville is an outdoor play area for kids (and kids at heart) of all ages! Mooville is open to anyone who visits our campus, but participation in the Mooville games and activities requires admission, included with your “Adventures” general admission.

Cowfé & Ice Cream Shop

Home to our Famous Grilled Cheese, the Cowfé is a great option for quick meals, ice cream and souvenirs. No admission required.
