When the leaves begin to fall and the air starts getting crisp, a fall festival comes to mind when deciding on fun family activities. Fall family traditions are strong in the midwest with pumpkin carving, fall decor, and apple picking to name a few of the most loved activities.
Building a Fall Festival Tradition
Fair Oaks Farms strives to build family traditions and have everyone come together and create new and lasting memories each and every year. One of the ways we do this is through our annual fall festival, CowtoberFest. CowtoberFest has been around for more than a decade now and has become a fall family tradition for most living in northwest Indiana.
This festival has become a favorite for many. With so many free activities and entertainment, it’s a way to get out of the house with your friends and family and enjoy a day without breaking the bank.
What to Expect
CowtoberFest consists of several fun family activities such as pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating, corn mazes and so much more. We bring in celebrity pumpkin carvers, Jon Neill and David Smith who create extraordinary carvings in pumpkins that weigh more than 400 pounds.
You can also watch the Giant Pumpkin Growers Association compete on the Saturday of the festival. This competition is unique and requires a lot of skill to carefully grow pumpkins weighing hundreds of pounds. Be sure to bring a lawn chair so that you can sit and enjoy this wonderful competition.
We’ve added some great new additions for the harvest season this year. Not, only can you enjoy the fall festival, but you can also now go apple picking, explore a 4-acre corn maze and visit our pumpkin patch!
