Is Fair Oaks Farms open today?

Fair Oaks Farms is open year-round, seven days a week.  For more specific hours, check our homepage or our Facebook page.


Do I need to schedule ahead of time to experience the adventures?

You do not need to schedule ahead of time to experience the tours that we offer here at the farm.  For larger groups (20+), however, we do ask you to schedule ahead of time with our Adventure Coordinator.


How long do the adventures take?

We recommend 2 hours for each- The Dairy Adventure and Pig Adventure. They are mostly self-guided tours so you can slow down or speed up to accommodate your own pace. Add 1 hour for The Crop Adventure. Add 1 hour for Mooville.


What time is it there?

Fair Oaks Farms is on Central Standard Time. (Chicago Time)


Are you equipped for special needs?

Yes, we are equipped for special needs.  We have a special needs restroom with a hydraulic adult changing table available on campus along with a lift on our tour buses.


For New Mothers & Babies

There is a Mother’s Lounge available on campus to allow privacy and a quiet spot.

Schools FAQs

How many students do we need to qualify for the discounted school rate?

We require a school group (K-12) of no less than 20 students to qualify for the discounted school rate of $10 for the whole experience or $6.00 per Adventure.


Is there a place for us to eat lunch?

Yes! We have a lunchroom available in our Feed Barn. You may pre-order our lunch packages provided by the Cowfé or Dairycatessen, or bring your own sack lunches.


Do we get free milk or ice cream?

Milk is provided to your class at no charge and flavor choices are to be turned in to your Adventure Coordinator no later than two weeks prior to your visit. Ice cream is available for pre-order for an additional cost.


How many chaperones do we need for our field trip?

For ages 7-12 we require one adult for every 10 children. For ages 2-6 we require one adult for every 5 children.


How long does the entire day take?

We recommend that you set aside a minimum of 2-3 hours per Adventure, plus 30 minutes for lunch.

Shop FAQs

Will my order still be fresh when it arrives?

Absolutely! All perishable items are packaged and shipped with cold packs to ensure a completely fresh product upon delivery.


What are your shipping policies?

Orders typically take 2-3 business days for processing and are then shipped via UPS Two-Day Delivery. We ship orders anywhere within the United States*.

Most orders will require a 2 day transit time. Please be aware that if your item is not shipping local, or requires 2 day air, it may be held and shipped on the next business day to avoid sitting in a shipping warehouse over the weekend.

If shipping our products as a gift, you must notify the recipient to ensure that someone will be available to receive the package. We will not be responsible for packages delivered and left unattended.

Can I have a gift message shipped with my purchase?

Sure! Include your message in the “Gift Message” box during checkout.


How do I get a receipt?

Your receipt will be emailed to you after an order has been placed. Shipments include packing slips, but printed receipts are not provided. Please contact us after your order is placed to ensure that a paper receipt is included with the shipment.


Do you accept customized orders or special holiday orders?

We offer customized gift boxes and will also customize your holiday or company gift purchases. To order a customized gift box, please call 219-394-5422.


What if my cheese is not available after I purchase it in your online store?

At times, our inventory is limited. Although our web site is updated regularly, it is possible that an item that you purchased is temporarily unavailable. In such cases, we will ship as much of your order as possible and send the additional item(s) as soon as available. Should a product ordered become unavailable for any reason, a full refund will be issued.


Will my information remain private and secure?

Fair Oaks Farms will never reveal your email address or any other personal information to anyone. Our online shopping system is 100% secure and uses 256-bit SSL encryption.


Can I become a wholesaler?

We do offer wholesale opportunities. Begin the process of becoming a wholesaler by completing our Wholesale Application Form
