Then you will make your way underground through the roots system where you can learn about different types of soil, hear and see a virtual rainstorm, and see down into the roots of corn (after all, we are located right in the corn belt). As you make your way back towards the surface you will play interactive games where you will have a chance to become the farmer!

PigBlog

WE ARE PED FREE

The Pig Adventure at Fair Oaks Farms is honored to have pictures of our pigs and farm used by the media as a representation of modern pig production.  In the past year, our industry has been hit by a little known virus that has been named PED.  This stands for Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea.  This disease hits all ages of pigs, but it is deadly for baby pigs that are still nursing on the sows.  Older pigs are sickened by the disease for a few days and then recover fairly quickly.  The USDA and university researchers have found that there is no threat to people by this virus and that healthy recovered pigs are fully able to be used in the human food chain.   The Pig Adventure farm is negative for this virus and has never had this tragic disease.  Thus, pictures of our farm used in association with articles regarding this disease would create an inaccurate article.
